as winds and lights and night skies cover
dreams beyond seams beyond seemings
kisses become lust become God become leanings
love becomes the idea of your heart
everything becomes the idea of dust
shadows cower in corners and weep
negro people watching the world while sleep
again becomes the new day
soon come home for me
and me to find myself is not entirely selfish
selfless and created in the sake of mothers embrace
my eyes, my lips, my nose, my face
